How to Strengthen your Natural Nails

Feb 09 , 2023

We all love our gel polish and our acrylic nails, but none of us love how weak our nails become from constantly having them done. Prolonged use of gel and acrylic manicures dehydrates our nails and can cause them to become brittle and fragile. It is very important to know how to strengthen your nails after your manicure so that you can keep your nails looking stunning, without the damage!

Read on to find out what tips and tricks we recommend for nail strengthening.

Keep your hands and nails moisturised: You can protect your nails from damage by locking in moisture. Cuticle oil is your best friend when trying to repair damaged nails as it is formulated with a high concentration of Shea oil which softens cuticles and nourishes nails.

Keep your nails short: If you struggle with weak nails, you should consider cutting your nails down while you build up their strength. Shorter nails are less likely to break as there is less surface area where water and chemicals can be absorbed.

Opt for nail polish removers that don’t include acetone: Acetone is very harsh on weak nails and can dry nails out very easily. There are nail polish removers that not have acetone in them. Some nail polish removers that are gentler on the nails are essential oil based and will not do any harm to your nails.

Include more protein and calcium into your diet: It is important to adjust your diet to include food groups that will assist you in the strengthening your nails. Loading up on biotin rich foods is a great idea. Vegetables, eggs and nuts are great additions to your diet and will make a significant difference to your nail health.

Drink enough water: staying hydrated is important for every aspect of your health and nail health isn’t any different. Without enough moisture, nails become brittle and peel very easily. If you are drinking enough water, your nails will retain moisture and stay strong.
